1. This service enables you to obtain a local number, or as close as local as is available, to the institution from which you will be receiving collect calls. If you already have a local phone number that can accept collect calls from prisons, then you do not need this service. 2. The cost of the phone service is separate from the cost of the collect calls. The collect calls are billed by the provider for the institution. In most cases having a "local" number will reduce the amount of the collect calls. (New York, Missouri, Michigan, New Hampshire and Oklahoma state prisons charge the same rate, regardless of the number being called. A local number is not needed.) 3. You must be able to set up a pre-paid collect call account with the provider for the institution on the new local number, OR the inmate must have the ability to purchase a pre-paid calling card, OR the inmate must have a debit calling account in order to receive collect calls using this service. Collect calls can only be directly accepted on a per-call basis when your phone company has a billing arrangement with the collect call provider. To be able to accept collect calls using this service, you need to be able to set up a pre-paid account with the collect call provider, or the inmate must have a pre-paid calling card, or the inmate must have a debit calling account.
